The dog that was left for dead on the side of the road and was saved by a landscaper is now fully recovered and ready for adoption.

Eddie the Yorkie was found in North Phoenix in December of 2015 after being struck by a car. The car never stopped and left Eddie on road with a shattered hip and other internal injuries.

A passing landscaper saw the pup and brought him to the near-by Animals Benefit Club, a no-kill shelter.

Now, three months later, Eddie has made a full recovery and has been listed on Animals Benefit Club’s adoption list.

A group of students at Desert Springs Preparatory Elementary School, in Paradise Valley, heard about Eddie’s story and decided to take action.

“So what our students did was they organized a coin drive,” Said Heather Pela, a Teacher with Desert Springs. “They put out collection jars, they pumped up the coin drive by going to various classrooms and talking about Eddie and encouraged every student to donate; posters, flyers, all that.”
