Cluster Grouping for gifted students
Gifted services at Sandpiper Elementary are expanding. We will be implementing the Cluster Grouping Model in grades K-6. Gifted learners will be purposefully grouped with like-minded peers in both traditional and FLITE classrooms utilizing the cluster grouping structures that are in place at schools throughout Paradise Valley. Students will receive differentiated learning opportunities in their cluster classrooms to ensure that advanced learning needs are met.
In 4th grade, gifted students in both traditional and FLITE classrooms will receive daily content replacement services in Reading with the gifted specialist. Students in the traditional classroom will receive daily content replacement in Math as well. Each Monday the gifted students from the FLITE program will join them for focused instruction on advanced vocabulary and problem solving strategies. Tuesday through Friday, FLITE students will work on challenge activities provided by the gifted specialist when they have completed their daily math work.
In 5th and 6th grade, gifted students in both traditional and FLITE classrooms will receive daily content replacement services in Reading and/or Math.
Thank you for your continued support as we seek to provide a rigorous and challenging learning environment for all learners at Sandpiper.
